Netflix has announced the biggest ever line-up of K-content in 2023 with 34 Korean titles streaming on TV

The global popularity of Korean dramas is undeniable and Netflix has some great shows on offer. Not only do they have some of the highest-rated shows of 2022 but are bringing more in 2023.

Netflix has announced the biggest ever line-up of K-content in 2023 with 34 titles, including movies and documentaries. Some of them are original productions while others are fan favourites.

Many shows are returning for a second season - a somewhat new concept in the industry as most shows used to be limited series only. Highly anticipated series Sweet Home, D.P., and The Glory will return this year with more action, revenge and raw emotion.

Song Hye Kyo-starrer The Glory Part 1 was the most-watched non-English TV show during the week of January 2 with 82.48 million viewing hours.

Gyeongseong Creature - the upcoming South Korean television series starring Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee, Soo Hyun, Kim Hae-sook, Jo Han-chul and Wi Ha-joon - has one of the biggest stars in its cast.

Park Seo-joon was in the Oscar-winning Parasite and is in The Marvels - which will release in 2023. Wi Ha-joon was in the famous Squid Games series.

Series

1. Behind Your Touch (working title) - It’s a supernatural series starring Han Ji Min, Lee Min Ki and Exo’s Suho. It’s about people who live in a rural village. It tells a story of veterinarian, called Ye Bun, who exhibits psychometric superpowers, and a passionate detective, Jang Kyul, who both become involved in solving minor crime.

2. Black Knight - This is a dystopian sci-fishow set in the year 2071. Air pollution has killed of 99% of the population and those who survived are trapped in a strict social class system. It’s based on the webcomic “Taekbaegisa” by Lee Yoon Kyun.

3. Bloodhounds - This a thriller drama about three young men who start a money-lending business to pay off their debts. They confront the rich and powerful who prey on the weak in the show.

4. Celebrity - This is also a thriller and a Netflix original series that explores the world of popularity and “influencer culture” and its dark sides.

5. Crash Course in Romance - In this showa mother with a heart of gold navigates the cutthroat world of private education when her daughter tries to join a celebrity math instructor’s class. This is an ongoing drama.

6. Daily Dose of Sunshine - Strong Girl Bong Soon actress Park Bo Young stars in this upcoming drama. It’s about the many kinds of incidents that take place in a psychiatric ward and is based on the real-life experiences of a psychiatric nurse.

7. Destined with You - This is a supernatural love story about an irresistible romance between a woman who obtained a forbidden book that was thoroughly sealed 300 years ago and a man who became a victim of the forbidden book.

8. Doona! - Former Miss A member Bae Suzy will star in the romcom show which is an adaptation of the popular webtoon The Girl Downstairs.

9. D.P., Season 2 - This is the second season of the show in which a young private is given the responsibility of capturing army deserters. It reveals the painful reality of each of the enlistees during their compulsory call of duty in South Korea.

10. Goodbye Earth - This is a sci-fi show in which individuals struggle to keep hope as an asteroid hurtles towards Earth, signifying the end of the world.

11. The Glory, Part 2 - One of the most popular Korean Netflix shows in 2022. Famous actress Song hye-kyo returns for her revenge against a group of classmates who tortured and bullied her in school.

12. The Good Bad Mother - This is an emotional drama about a mother, Young Soon, who has lived her life only for her child, and her son, prosecutor Kang Ho, who suffers from amnesia after an unexpected accident.

13. Gyeongseong Creature - This highly-anticipated supernatural show stars Park Seo-joon, Han So-he and Wi Ha-joon. It’s a historical drama (think Kingdom but more recent) about individuals going up against monstrous creatures that were born out of human greed.

14. King the Land - It’s a romcom starring Yoona and her romance with a Chaebol played by 2PM’s Lee Jun Ho.

15. Love to Hate You - This is a romcom about an attorney who despises losing to men and an A-list actor who distrusts women but are forced to date each other.

16. Mask Girl - The Netflix k-drama is an adaptation of the webtoon ‘Mask Girl’ and is coming to Netflix sometime in 2023.

17. Queenmaker - This is a political drama about two women who join forces to make one of them the mayor of Seoul - the capital of South Korea.

18. See You In My 19th Life - This is a live-action adaption of the fantasy series See You in My 19th Life - in which a woman remembers her previous 18 lives.
