'Much-loved' Midlands National Trust play area has closed its doors ahead of upgrade

The area at National Trust Croome has closed its doors, with a new play area set to open in 2027.

A play area at a popular West Midlands National Trust site has closed as the premises prepare for a brand new-one that will open in 2027.

The play area was described as “much-loved” by National Trust Croome, in Worcestershire, before its closure on Wednesday (October 14).

It closed as part of phase 2 of Operation Park, Play, Explore which will see a new play area built in the orchard in 2027.

Visitors were reassured that there is “plenty” to keep them entertained over the upcoming school half-term.

Over the school holiday, there will be fun events such as Stranger Folk and autumnal face painting.

In a Facebook post that was shared on Tuesday (October 13), National Trust Croome said: “So many changes taking place onsite as we move into phase 2 of Operation Park, Play, Explore.

“ From Wednesday 14 October we’ll be bidding a final farewell to our much loved play area as we prepare for a new one in the orchard in 2027.

“There’s plenty to delight visitors of all ages with our upcoming half term programme including Stranger Folk and autumnal face painting and our festive programme Once Upon a Time: Croome’s Fairytale Christmas.

“And there’s something big is coming our way in January 2027.”
