Major Birmingham city centre restaurant shuts after 10 years

The popular Utilita Arena restaurant has closed for good

Ed's Easy Diner has permanently closed its doors after 10 years of business.

The chain diner with a 1950s vibe serving burgers, hot dogs and other comfort food, was located on the outside of the arena in one of the main units along with a number of other restauranrs, but has not closed its doors according to Google.

The popular venue, which is now listed as permanently closed, had a 4.1 rating on Google from over 1,400 reviews.

New Mexican venue to launch in Kings Heath

In other news, a new, intimate neighbourhood restaurant and bar is set to launch in Birmingham at the end of June.

Chef Matt Wilden has announced that his new restaurant, Perro, will open in late June.

Perro will fuse Mexican-influenced small plates with cocktails, designed by Katie Rouse of Couch, natural wine and creative community spirit. Tucked into a cosy 12-cover space in Birmingham in Kings Court, Kings Heath, guests can expect small plates infused with the flavours of salsa, mole, and adobo that draw inspiration directly from Mexican traditions.
