Love Island 2022 may have just finished, but ITV has already begun the search for contestants to take part in the 2023 series - including people right here in Birmingham.

The show has grown to be hugely popular, and you could have what it takes to impress the public in the next series of the hit show.

Do you fancy spending the cold UK winter in sunny South Africa looking for love or maybe you want a summer romance in Majorca ?

If so, here’s what you need to know about the most recent series, and how to apply for the 2023 shows.

When is the next series of Love Island?

The date of the new series has yet to be confirmed, but what candidates in Birmingham would need to know is that it will get underway in January 2023.

You read that right, the next series will be a special winter Love Island series, this will be the second time contestants head to Africa following the launch of winter Love island in January 2020.

The regular summer series will go ahead as usual, meaning that fans will have a double dose of Love Island in 2023.

When can people in Birmingham apply for the new series?

Applications are now open for the people of Birmingham to apply for an all-expenses paid trip to South Africa in the winter or Mallorca in the summer in search of romance.

You must be at least 18 years of age in order to apply to be involved in the show.

After fulfilling all of these, you will then need to formally apply for Love Island 2023 by filling out a ‘Contestant Application Form’.

The international location of the show is stressed in the application form, as the importance of holding a valid passport is stressed.

The application reads: “You must hold, or be prepared to obtain, a passport which is valid until at least 6 months after the programme end date (which will be notified to you) and which is less than 10 years old and you must be eligible to travel to the Programme destinations we specify.

“You also agree to notify us immediately of any change to your passport or travel status.”

Who won series eight of Love Island?

After 57 episodes, plenty of drama and a whole load of dates, the winners of Love Island 2022 were crowned on Monday, 1 August.

Fan-favourites the Italian stallion and Manchester resident Davide Sanclimenti and London-based girlfriend Ekin-Su Culculoglu were announced as victors and split the £50,000 prize money.

Were there any contestants from Birmingham in Love Island series eight?

In the 2022 series, none of the contestants in Love Island were from Birmingham although one, Rhys, was from just down the road in Coventry.

Who knows, you may be the person ITV are looking to represent Birmingham next year!
