Former boys club among Birmingham City Council properties for sale in new auction

A former boys club is among a string of surplus properties owned by Birmingham City Council that are set to go under the hammer at Bond Wolfe’s May auction

The former Four Oaks Boys Club, in Wilmcote Drive, Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield, is listed with a guide price* of £75,000+ in Bond Wolfe’s livestreamed auction on Thursday 15 May.

Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, said: “The property comprises two buildings, both in need of refurbishment, which may be suitable for redevelopment, subject to planning permission.

“One is a 1,679 sq ft sports hall and the other includes a 2,045 sq ft assembly hall.”

Other properties to be auctioned

Also in the sale, with a £100,000+ price guide, is a 316 sq ft plot of land at 234 Stoney Lane, Balsall Heath, currently being used as a car park and generating £2,200 per annum in rental income.

The business will remain unaffected by the sale. Another council-owned lot is a freehold commercial investment property at 127-131 Stratford Rd, Sparkbrook, with a guide price of £150,000+.

This property is used as a car garage and currently generates rental income of £6,500 per annum.

A pair of commercial retail investment properties in Lozells Road, are also being offered on behalf of Birmingham City Council.

62 Lozells Road is a freehold mid-terrace property producing rental of £3,800 per annum, with a guide price of £125,000+ and to be sold subject to the existing tenancy, as the business will remain unaffected.

64 Lozells Rd is also listed with a £125,000+ guide price and is being sold subject to the existing lease, which generates £5,300 per annum, as again the business will be unaffected.

Mr Bassi said: “The council has also instructed us to offer for sale seven separate commercial ground rents.

“Four are on properties in Glebe Farm Road. The ground rents on 24, 25 and 35 Glebe Farm Road are each listed with a guide price of £25,000+ while the ground rent on 34 Glebe Farm Road is listed at £40,000+.

“The other three ground rents are pubs. The Balmoral Public House on Balmoral Road, Bartley Green has a guide price of £235,000+, The Cavalier on Fairfax Road is listed at £150,000+ and the ground rent on the former Primrose pub in Kings Norton has a guide price of £110,000+.”

The Birmingham City Council properties and ground rents will be among scores of lots appearing in Bond Wolfe’s next auction, which is due to start at 8.30am on Thursday 15 May.
