Owner Nikolaos Fylladitakis, originally from Crete, is keen to showcase authentic Greek cuisine that is of the highest quality, with the majority of Laros’ ingredients sourced and imported directly from Greece. Ingredients that cannot come from Greece, are locally sourced.

The people of Birmingham will be able to tuck into Laros’ renowned chicken and honey or pork and tzatiziki gyros, as well as the juicy pork and chicken souvlaki with lamb available in the coming weeks. Laros’ chicken and lamb are both halal.

Laros’ ‘better than halloumi’ Talagani cheese fries, available as a side, in a box meal or tucked into a gyros wrap will delight guests as well as a full Laros Green vegan menu that includes plant-based gyros options such as courgette fritters, tomato cakes and falafel, and oyster mushrooms.

Laros also offers deliciously fresh and authentic salads on the menu including a classic Greek salad, a Politiki cabbage-based salad and Cretan Dakos salad with tomatoes and olives, which can be ordered as a main or as a side.

For dessert, Laros will serve Loukoumades - little sweet Greek donut balls - served traditionally with honey syrup and chopped walnuts but Laros has put its own twist on the classic with the addition of lavender to its honey syrup.

Laros’ other variations include white chocolate and hazelnut or milk chocolate, pistachio and vegan Loukoumades with agave syrup.

Open everyday, Laros will be available to order via Deliveroo and UberEats initially, and will also soon be available on Just Eat.

Its new Birmingham site, which has created five jobs locally, will operate as a takeaway of the future.

Owner Nikolaos Fylladitakis opened Laros’ Liverpool Bold Street site in May 2021, and within six months had expanded into Manchester, opening a dark kitchen in Ardwick to offer the highest quality, authentic Greek cuisine to the area via delivery. In September 2022, Laros opened its second Liverpool eatery in South Liverpool.

Nikolaos explained: “We’re very excited to be bringing Laros to Birmingham for the first time and to introduce the city to the authentic Greek street food that we create. Laros was born out of wanting to showcase authentic Greek dishes and produce, and traditional Greek recipes that people eat there every day including the staple of gyros as well as the tomato cakes and courgette fritters.
