Tropea is one of only two West Midlands-based restaurants listed in The Good Food Guide’s Best 100 Local Restaurants 2024

Harborne-based neighbourhood restaurant, Tropea, has been once again named one of The Good Food Guide’s Best 100 Local Restaurants after 60,000 nominations for bistros, brasseries, pubs and cafes were made across the UK.

Tropea’s inspired menu and design were praised by The Good Food Guide’s reviewers. It’s the second year in a row Tropea has been included in the list.

The Italian restaurant’s sharing ethos and antipasti selection were commended by inspectors, who particularly enjoyed the charred green friggitelli (finger chillies) dressed in garlic and Maldon sea salt, and wafer slices of raw scallop with pink grapefruit and pickled radish.

Another reviewer favourite was the pappardelle with rich rabbit ragu, simmered in white wine and finished with 24-month aged parmigiano.

Tropea has recently announced the venue will be extended into the venue next door, which will see the addition of a bar that will accommodate up to 4 covers for walk-ins and tabletop-style dining, alongside a further 15 covers in the restaurant.

The outdoor terrace will also offer 6 more covers. Thanks to the extension, Tropea will now be able to open for lunch on Fridays.

Ben and Kasia, Owners of Tropea, said, “After being recognised last year as the Good Food Guide's Best Local Restaurant in the Central & East of England, we couldn’t be happier to be included in the list again this year.”

“Having just announced our upcoming extension, we’re looking forward to continuing to deliver a cosy and intimate dining experience for our guests and members of our neighbourhood.”
