A Greggs store, situated in Birmingham City Centre and one of the busiest in the area has closed for good - after a sign appeared in the window of the popular eatery announcing it had closed.

The Greggs is located on The Ramp off New Street, and in the window it displayed a sign showing a broken hearted cookie. The crack in the heart goes right through the jammy middle, and said: ‘We’re really sorry, we will not be reopening’.

The Ramp is usually very busy, and this Greggs was sandwiched between Baguette World and McDonald’s, and was reportedly one of the busiest Greggs stores in the area.

When BirminghamWorld contacted Greggs for a response to why it had closed, they said: “This shop has been closed since March 2020. We didn’t re-open it after the first lockdown when other non-essential retail opened. All of the staff were relocated.”

Fear not fans of Greggs in Birmingham, the one one Cherry Street, which coincidentally is next to a McDonald’s too, is still open as usual.
