Birmingham restaurants shortlisted for the Asian restaurant & takeaway awards
The annual Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards (ARTA), the UK’s most prestigious celebration of PanAsian cuisine, has unveiled its shortlist for 2024. The event will take place on Sunday, 6th October, at London’s Royal Lancaster.
Hosted by BBC Journalist and Broadcaster Samantha Simmonds and renowned magician Paul Martin, the awards recognize the best in Asian cuisine across various regional and national categories. ARTA celebrates excellence, creativity, and great taste by bringing together the UK’s top Asian restaurants and chefs.

Hide AdNominees were selected based on customer nominations, social media, and food hygiene ratings, with over 900,000 customers of ARTA’s strategic partner ChefOnline participating. An esteemed judging panel will determine the winners, who will be announced at the Grand Finale and Gala Evening.
The awards will spotlight over 1,250 restaurants and takeaways across the UK, including categories such as National Champion of the Champions, Regional Restaurant of the Year, and National and Regional Chefs of the Year.
The UK’s curry industry, which dates back to the 1800s, contributes significantly to the restaurant sector. ARTA aims to support the industry, which faces challenges such as high energy costs, inflation, and skilled staff shortages.
Mohammed Munim, Founder Member and CEO of ARTA, emphasised the importance of recognizing the contributions of Asian restaurants and takeaways to the UK economy. He stated, “These establishments have created thousands of jobs and boosted local economies, especially post-Brexit.”
