Birmingham has many high quality Indian restaurants for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Between Birmingham city centre and the neighbourhoods - there are plenty of options to taste authentic Indian curries and street food. So, today, we are ranking the best restaurants for the tastiest Indian food, according to this writer - whose hometown happens to be the capital of India.
This is our definitive but personal opinion on where to find the best Indian food in the diverse city of Birmingham.
We have ranked them based on their authenticity, tastiness, and location. It is hard to judge these restaurants because they all have their specialities and we have highlighted those as well. Here is our personally curated list of the 9 best Indian restaurants in Birmingham:

1. Dhishoom, Birmingham city centre
One of the most popular restaurants in Birmingham and across the country - Dhishoom is known for its food and ambience. Modelled after Irani cafes of Mumbai, they serve incredible and authentic Chilli Chicken as well as Black Dal. The breakfast menu is entirely different from the daytime menu and the rolls are too yum to skip. It's easily my favourite restaurant in the city. | bbivirys - stock.adobe.com

2. Itihaas, Jewellery Quarter
A classic Indian restaurant offering a wide variety of options, this restaurant is my go-to for Chicken Biryani. What's not to like about Biryani? Fragrant and herbed rice with slow cooked meat that falls right off the bone makes for an explosion of taste in your mouth. This restaurant is not one to be missed and it is located on Fleet St in Jewellery Quarter. It comes second in my list. | AALA_IMAGES - stock.adobe.com

3. Indico Mailbox
Indico in Mailbox is one of the first Indian restaurants I had tried after moving to Birmingham. I was told back in 2021 that the chef is from one of the top hotels in New Delhi and the flavours surely reminded me of my hometown. I still end up ordering in from this restaurant often and it is a strong favourite on my list. | petrrgoskov - stock.adobe.com

4. Asha's, Birmingham city centre
Named in the Michelin Guide, this is a strong favourite for not just Brummies but also celebrities. I and the BirminghamWorld team have visited and more than the curries, it's the kebab starters that won my heart. Soft and tender and perfectly spiced - the starters at Asha's shouldn't be missed. This restaurant comes next on my list. | Birmingham World
