There’s nothing like a creamy Mac ‘n’ Cheese to cheer up on a gloomy day. The dish has become the preferred comfort food for many and is available at several restaurants in Birmingham as well.
It is often believed to have originated in the US but it has European origins with the earliest known recorded recipe having been written in 1769, according to the Smithsonian Magazine. The dish travelled to the US from Paris after a visit by the third US president Thomas Jefferson.
Today, the dish is available everywhere and chefs across the world have their own take on it. For instance, American restaurants serve a brisket infused Mac ‘n’ Cheese and you can find it here in the West Midlands as well. While chefs with South Asian and Jamaican origins have infused Chicken tikka and jerk spices into the dish adding flavours never expected to go with the classic dish that has lasted for centuries.
If you are a Mac ‘n’ Cheese fan, you would probably be aware of the only Mac ‘n’ Cheese restaurnt Holy Moly that closed down in Harborne not too long ago.
