It’s become one of the best loved breweries in and around Birmingham since it opened a decade ago.
Now Silhill Brewery is making a move from Hampton in Arden in Solihull to a bigger premises in Aston in Birmingham.
The independent beer makers is also opening a taproom bar at the new site which will be the main site for its brewing. The 5,000sq ft venue promises an eclectic selection of beers brewed on site alongside live music events, big screens for football and rotating street food traders.
It’s an ambitious step forward for owner and head brewer Mark Gregory who said: “We are absolutely thrilled to open Silhill Brewery and Taproom next month. After years as a small business it’s honestly a dream come true to be expanding and becoming a part of the city’s thriving bar scene.
“When we were told our current brewing site in Solihull was due to be developed by the landlord, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to take the leap and invest in the brewery’s future. Luckily we found a site that was ideal for our growth plans.
“We’ll be able to accommodate up to 300 in the taproom and the yard, which we hope will be a hit when summer arrives. We’ve invested heavily into this new project, transforming the industrial unit from the ground up. It’s been a real labour of love but seeing it come together is so rewarding.
“When I became a brewer, I always visualised being able to share our beers with people in a taproom setting - this move is a result of years of perfecting the brews, passionately believing in what we create and building the right team to grow the business.
“There’s plenty to do ahead of the grand opening at the end of May but it’s an incredibly exciting time for the Silhill family. If all goes well we’d like to set up more taprooms like this, including back in Solihull where we proudly started our journey.”
