Inside The Bear Tavern pub in Bearwood following its six figure investment - open an hour earlier

Popular Birmingham pub, The Bear Tavern, on Bearwood Road, has reopened to the public following a six-figure renovation.

The owners have told how the decor is designed to revitalise the existing pub and give it a brand-new look and feel and reaffirming it as a central community space.

The Bear Tavern closed its doors at the end of January and reopened on Friday, February 23 following the completion of major works both inside and out.

The investment has provided a number of job opportunities with the pub team increasing from 17 to 22 strong - so five new positions have been created.

What's new at The Bear Tavern in Bearwood?

The pub is now opening an hour earlier for customers to enjoy the breakfast offering from 9am. Plus the pub will feature a dessert area offering a coffee and a cake for a light bite throughout the day.

In addition to the exterior and interior of the pub, the garden has also been extended to increase outdoor space with new seating, mood lighting and an enclosed border - aimed towards creating further privacy from the busy street.

There’s a new and improved outdoor sound system and TV screens also make for optimum sports viewing as the warmer months near. The Bear Tavern has opened with the same popular food menu, including its well-liked Sunday Lunch offering, 2 for £12.49 menu and fantastic £5 burger Wednesday deal.

The drinks menu has also remained the same - featuring a host of locally sourced ales from local breweries, as well as an extensive range of beers, wines, spirits, and soft drinks, plus an exciting new cocktail menu. Customers will also find plenty of no and low alcoholic options on the menu.

A spokesperson for The Bear said: “The inside of the pub has received a complete makeover to create a modern, welcoming atmosphere including a brighter appearance thanks to an all-new colour pallet, updated contemporary décor and all-important upgraded toilets. 

“The pub layout has been completely reconfigured, open plan yet zoned for different occasions to cater to all guests, whether they’re enjoying a family meal or supporting their favourite sports teams.

“The pub also offers Sky and TNT Sport and will be showing all major matches for sports fans to enjoy as well as offering great deals from the Greene King Sports App.”

Alongside seasonal events including Mother’s Day and St Patrick’s Day, the pub hosts a regular programme of events, including weekly poker nights every Tuesday and Monday quiz nights plus weekly live music events and monthly comedy nights.
