Broadband in Solihull: Sign up for Zen Internet and enjoy a price promise guarantee

Solihull’s newest broadband network is offering people a fixed price promise, after a survey shows cost increases in the middle of contracts with other providers has left customers feeling angry and frustrated.

The new price promise - by Zen Internet as it follows the CityFibre network rollout across the city - comes as Zen reveals the results of an independent survey it commissioned.

The online poll - conducted by market researcher Opinion Matters - showed monthly contract price, reliability and speed were the top three most important factors considered by people when choosing a broadband provider.

The research also showed that in the UK over two fifths of adults experienced a mid-contract price rise within the last year, leaving them feeling angry (45%), frustrated (40%), and in some cases deceived (25%).

And those emotions, said the survey, led to two in five people (44%) considering switching broadband provider in the next year or when their contract is up for renewal.

The findings come, says Zen, as many other broadband providers will be increasing their customers’ monthly bills this spring. This is due to the UK Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 4% plus an additional margin, usually of 3.9%.

Zen - the UK’s only Which? recommended provider for broadband now offers a contract price promise. This means that whatever price a Solihull customer signs up for, it will stay the same for the duration of the contract.

The full fibre service with Zen will provide Solihull homes with a faster and more reliable service at a time when reliability and speed are important factors when people are looking for a broadband provider.

Zen has committed to reach eight million homes in the UK through the CityFibre’s £4bn network.

People in Solihull can get ahead of the digital curve

David Barber is the Strategy Director at Zen Internet and he says that the next few years will be pivotal for connectivity in the home.

He continues: “Deemed the gold rush decade, the 2020s will see implementation of full fibre across the nation.” By 2030, he says, everyone will have made the switch to full fibre.

Barber says: “Today, people in Solihull can get ahead of the curve by accessing full fibre with Zen over CityFibre’s high quality infrastructure.”

He says that it is unfortunate that the broadband industry “has a poor reputation” for managing customer expectations and being transparent with communications.

He says this is because many broadband providers sign up customers via special offers and then introduce mid-contract price rises.

This comes at a time, Barber says, when households “need to be able to plan their monthly spends”.

He says that people in Solihull can benefit from Zen’s contract price promise with a guarantee that prices are fixed for the duration of a contract.

Unlock the full potential of a home’s smart devices

Full fibre broadband is planning for a digitally savvy future.

Old-fashioned copper wires brought traditional broadband into offices and homes. That was fine for phone calls, but not so much for data usage.

The copper wires are now giving way to more reliable broadband connections as they are being replaced with fibre optic cable. Around 67% of the UK now has access to full fibre, providing speeds of up to 900Mbps.

These new-style networks have the capability to unlock the full potential of a home’s smart devices and provide the opportunity for future proofing a home’s connectivity requirements.

They allow for the capability to unlock any number of smart home applications and Internet of Things (IoT) devices of the future.
