Deliveroo Awards 2021: the Birmingham restaurants named the best in the UK

Birmingham eateries have won some top awards in a public vote by Deliveroo users.

Hide AdThe 2021 awards were open to any venues who sell their food via the popular app and 350,000 people who voted chose 20 of the 21 category winners.
A virtual awards ceremony took place on Monday and celebrated some of the best independent and chain restaurants which use the Deliveroo service to deliver food to customers.
Restaurants were divided into multiple categories where they were voted for by the public.

Hide AdThe categories included Best Burger, Best Indian Restaurant, Best Fine Dining, Best Desert Only, Best Asian Restaurant, Best Salads and Bowls and many more.
Which Birmingham eateries came out on top
Kuula Poke, Colmore Row
Birmingham restaurant and takeaway Kuula Poke was named the best Best Salads and Bowls restaurant.
Originating in Hawaii, the poké bowls on offer at the Colmore Row restaurant include a healthy combination of sushi fish, meats or tender tofu over layers of rice, vegetables and tropical fruits.

Hide AdThe establishment has proved a popular choice for people in the city centre since it opened its doors in 2019.
Following the win, Kuula Poké director, Sue Whiston, said: “As the only Birmingham-based (independent) restaurant to win an award this year we’re especially proud to be bringing home an award to Birmingham.”
Gaucho, Colmore Row
Gaucho, which also has a restaurant in Colmore Row, scooped the Best Fine Dining award for 2021. The upmarket restaurant is known for his Argentinian steaks and fine wines.

Wingstop, Bullring
Wingstop, which has one of its 14 branches in Birmingham was also named overall Restaurant of the Year for its London venue by a panel of foodie judges including TV chef Big Zuu and restaurant critic Grace Dent.
Tom Grogan of Wingstop UK said: “We’re absolutely delighted It’s been an incredibly challenging year and to win this award, which has been judged by some of the biggest names in the UK restaurant industry, is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Wingstop UK team.”
