The city's famous heart of the canal network, usually bustling with revellers, was shut down while film crews transformed the area into a gritty wartime film set.
On Monday, October 21, fans saw Cillian reprising his role as Tommy Shelby, with the 48-year-old Irish actor donning the gangster's trademark flatcap. The Oscar winner could also be seen with fake blood trickling down his cheek while wearing what appeared to be a heavily mud-stained jacket and suit.
