Christmas supermarket opening times in Birmingham including Asda, Tesco, Aldi and Morrisons

Christmas is almost here - depending on how well you’ve prepared for the occasion, these words will either spark terror or excitement. A last minute dash to the shops is inevitable, so knowing which ones will be open is essential to prevent a wasted trip.

If you are one of those people who every year finds themselves panic stricken as you realise you have forgotten a Christmas must-have, then you are not alone. Tesco recently released a list of the most commonly forgotten Christmas Day items.

While items such as a turkey, mince pies and a celebratory tipple might be top of your list, other items you’d hate to do without are often only remembered at the eleventh hour. According to the supermarket, on the list of most forgotten items are essentials such as gravy, stuffing, cooking oil, bin liners, tin foil, table salt and toilet roll.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of all major supermarkets in Birmingham and their festive opening hours. Preparation is the key to avoid missing out on any Christmas dinner trimmings this year.

We’ll be looking at all the main supermarkets in the UK. We’re including Aldi, Asda, Tesco, Lidl, Sainsburys, Morrisons and Waitrose in our list.

To give everyone the opportunity to spend Christmas with their family, all major supermarkets will be closed on Christmas Day. When it comes to Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, most shops will be open, but with reduced schedules.

We’ll be looking at Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day for the purposes of this list. Additionally, we’ll only be looking at supermarkets - smaller shops, such as Tesco Express and Little Waitrose, won’t be included.

All shops will be closed on Christmas Day, as per tradition. On Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, most shops will remain open, but with reduced schedules. All stores will be open on Christmas Eve, but some may be shut on Boxing Day.
