While the King and Queen will be coronated in the Westminster Abbey in London on May 6, Birmingham will host local celebrations as well

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be coronated in May 2023 and the country will be celebrating the new monarch with much fanfare and joy.

In Birmingham, there will be two days of community focussed activity will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May 2023, in Centenary Square, in the heart of Birmingham city centre from 1pm to 9pm, each day. These activities will be family-friendly and free, and Birmingham City Council has also asked communities to host street parties.

What to expect?

Fun fair

Running from early afternoon until close, there will be children’s fun fair rides and activities will be open throughout the entire weekend.

Food and Drink Stalls

Birmingham city centre has a huge selection of cafes and restaurants, all within close proximity to Centenary Square. Apart from that, the council will be providing an excellent selection of street food outlets for all tastes, including vegetarian and vegan options as well as fully licensed bars throughout the weekend.

Community Stage

The community stage in Centenary Square will provide two days of varied entertainment, including performances from local acoustic musicians, choirs, live bands, cultural entertainment, street entertainers and more, reflecting the amazing diversity in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.

The coronation will be broadcast live on the big screen from 11 am on Saturday, May 6. On Sunday, May 7, they will be broadcasting the Coronation Concert live on the big screen from 7pm.
