Birmingham Heritage Week to begin this week - schedule, locations & dates

Birmingham has a rich history and the Heritage Week, which is a part of the Birmingham 2022 Festival, will shine a light on it.

Residents and visitors will be able to experience the living tapestry of cultures that come together in our brilliantly diverse city.

The Birmingham Heritage Week celebrates the living history of the residents of the city, and you can take part in the various events during the 10-day festival, which starts on 9 September and ends on 18 September.

Here are all the events by date you can experience:

9 September

1. Made the Cut – Heritage Film Programme - Fri 9 Sept – Sun 18 Sept | 9.30am–4.30pm at Display Space, Roundhouse Birmingham, The Roundhouse.

2. Journeys – A floating exhibition - Fri 9 Sept, Sat 10 Sept, Sun 11 Sept, Sat 17 Sept and Sun 18 Sept from 10am-4pm at Birmingham Canal leading off Kings Edwards Road, Birmingham.

3. Birmingham Central Mosque is open to visitors throughout the year and you can visit on Fri 9 Sept from 10am–5pm. Booking required.

4. The Lost Children exhibition - Fri 9 Sept to Sun 11 Sept 10am-5pm, Thu 15 Sept to Sun 18 Sept 10am-5pm and Tue 13 Sept: 1pm-5pm and Wed 14 Sept: 1pm-5pm. Closed on Monday.

Venue- Birmingham Back to Backs (Top Floor Exhibition space, enter through the Bookshop), 55-63 Hurst Street.

8. Woodcock Street Baths: Guided Tour & Swim - Fri 9, Sat 10, Mon 12, Fri 16, Sat 17 Sept | 10.15am-11.30am. Free post-tour swim if requested at the oldest operational swimming pool in Birmingham - The Sir Doug Ellis Woodcock Sports Centre, Woodcock Street.

9. Heritage Working Boat Trip Limited Edition - Boat trip starts and ends at Roundhouse Birmingham, The Roundhouse, 1 Sheepcote St. It is fully booked.

“Birmingham Heritage Week is about exploring and discovering the heritage of our amazing city. It is very much a festival for ‘Brummies’ although the festival certainly attracts visitors from further afield. The website puts succinctly what we are aiming to achieve. We invite you to explore and (re)discover Birmingham’s rich history and heritage during this 10-day city-wide heritage festival.
