For those visiting Birmingham for the two-day Pride event later this month, there are multiple safe venues, curated by Booking.com, to stay overnight for the celebrations. BirminghamPride, one of the biggest LGBTQ+ celebrations in the UK, falls on 24 and 25 September this year, and there are many events around the city.

The event is meant to promote diversity and inclusivity but unfortunately, a large section of the community still faces issues when travelling. The holiday services aggregator said their research indicated 71% of UK LGBTQ+ travellers have had less-than-welcoming or uncomfortable experiences when travelling, with 61% reporting they have to consider their safety and wellbeing when choosing a holiday destination.

Birmingham Pride will be held at Smithfield, Gay Village and other locations across Birmingham city centre with The Pride Parade taking off at Centenary Square from 11am on 24 September. The 2022 Pride marks the 25th anniversary and is likely to attract 40,000 people with more than 75,000 people participating in or watching the bright and beautiful display.

LGBTQ+ travellers often don’t feel safe or comfortable to be their authentic selves, said Booking.com. They have launched its Proud Hospitality programme to help combat some of the challenges and barriers the community faces when travelling.
