5. New Hall Valley Country Park, Wylde Green
New Hall Valley Country Park is rated 4.6 stars from 166 Google Reviews. This is a former farmland covering 198 acres of green belt countryside. It is an important nature reserve consisting of historic wetland grazing meadows, Plants Brook stream and a number of listed buildings. 6. Kingfisher Country Park
Situated in East Birmingham and the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, this park is rated 4.4 stars from 308 Google reviews. It opened in 2004 to care for an 11km stretch of the River Cole valley. It has various types of landscape and wildlife habitats. Alongside the river there are areas of formal public open space, tall herbs and scrub, coarse grassland, wetland with several small ponds and ancient woodland. There are a number of man-made lakes in the park such as the lake at Shard End, which has been created in the remains of an old gravel quarry, and Babbs Mill Lake in Kingshurst was formed as a balancing feature in times of flood.
