Watch: Brummies react to plans to ban disposable vapes
and live on Freeview channel 276
Disposable vapes are set to be banned across England, Scotland and Wales in a bid to protect children's health. Some have argued this is an overreach by the state. I'm here in Birmingham to get people's thoughts on whether or not they support the ban.
David says: "I'm not a smoker anymore myself, I quit quite a long time ago, but in terms of disposable vapes, I think there can be an argument for safety depending on the quality and depending on how much access there is to them.

I think that obviously it can lead to easier access, it can lead to addiction, but the same can be said about a lot of things, alcohol, cigarettes, anything like sugar, for example.”
Amayo says: "I think I'll go, if it's to protect the children, then I'm for it, so, I really don't know, because I feel a lot of our people's rights are being encroached over and over, so I don't know if we're stepping too further again into what people can and cannot do as human beings, but if I go by my child, I'll say, okay, it's good.”
Alex says: “I hadn't actually heard of the vape ban, but I'm not a smoker. I think that if it can be helpful for kids, if it protects them from potentially dangerous diseases, or cancer, then yeah, I think that is justifiable to ban it.
Adam says: "Yeah. These are the disposable ones, I think. Then yeah, definitely. I know, obviously we've got a few mutual friends who do vape, certainly some of the lads I live with. And they're all for it. They switched a long time ago over to the bigger cartridges, the non-disposable ones. I think that they're really fussed. They buy all their flavours online in bulk. So they just refill it, recharge it.“

"If you sell electronic items, you're supposed to recycle them. I'm not sure most vape shops have been doing that particularly. So yeah, I think obviously people not smoking is probably good, but the environmental impact doesn't necessarily make that a good trade off either."
Temi says: "So, I totally agree with this, with the banning of vapes. It's helping the environment, helping children because, to be honest, I come from a society where we try to protect our children from this kind of thing.
"So it's really a good thing. I have a son, who is a baby, and I'm just trying to make sure the environment is sustainable enough for him. We're working towards achieving net zero carbon emissions. So, it's a really good plus for us.”
