The new school year for students in Birmingham begins on Monday, 5 September. This will be the start of the 2022-23 Autumn term.

Which bank holidays are there during the 2022-23 school year?

Throughout the school year, there will be a number of bank holidays taking place. On these days, schools in the city will be closed.

The next bank holidays to take place are the 26 and 27 December, which won’t affect schools too much as they fall within the Christmas holidays.

In 2023, there will be five bank holidays between January and the end of the school year in July.

When does the 2023-24 school year start?

Following the next summer holidays, which get underway in July 2023, students in Birmingham will return to the classroom on Monday, 4 September 2023.

This will be the start of the autumn term, and pupils will be in school until the October half term which will start on Monday, 30 October.

The Christmas holidays in the 2023-24 school year in Birmingham will start on Friday, 22 December and finish on Monday, 8 January 2024.
