Yee-haw: Sutton Coldfield care home toasts milestone with country-themed party

A care home in Sutton Coldfield has pulled out all the stops to mark a special anniversary.

It was party time at Care UK’s Mercia Grange, on Lichfield Road, as residents, team members and the local community came together to celebrate the home’s seventh birthday – country and western style!

Team members donned their cowboy hats, organised a host of games, hosted an animal visit, and introduced a live performance from singer Becky Gee to get everyone’s toes tapping.

92-year-old Mercia Grange resident, Elaine, said: “I really enjoyed the celebration. The singer was brilliant, and it was fun to see everyone dancing. My favourite part was the animal visit. I love seeing the chickens and bunnies and giving them a cuddle.”

Michael McNelis, Home Manager at Mercia Grange, said: “We had a fantastic time celebrating our seventh birthday in true Mercia Grange fashion – with plenty of music!

“The past seven years have been filled with fantastic moments for everyone at the home, residents and team members alike, and we have no plans to slow down as we look ahead to creating more memorable experiences in the next seven years and beyond.
