A Yardley-based Funeral Director is giving local people the chance to post a letter to their loved ones who have passed away and help keep their memories alive

The team at William H Painter Funeral Directors, based in Yardley Road, Birmingham, have placed a special “Letters to Heaven Postbox” in their chapel of rest.

The idea is that anyone who wants to post a message to someone who has passed away can put them in the box at any time of day in a private moment. Special seeded compostable paper is available in the branch for people to use, although it is not compulsory. The seeded paper will then be placed in special planters at the funeral home to create a beautiful, blooming Flowers from Heaven Garden.

Helen Morgan who is a Funeral Arranger at William H Painter Funeral Directors said they wanted it to be an outlet for anyone who felt they wanted to write something for a lost loved one. “We all deal with grief differently, and, for some people, it can be very beneficial to write something down.

“Often, finding the words to write to a loved one can be very difficult, but by having the Letters to Heaven Postbox families can send letters, messages and cards whenever they wish. Children can post their pictures, poems, and stories too.

“Families have asked previously about Letters to Heaven Postboxes so we feel having one in our chapel will be beneficial for the people we have already cared for, and those we help in the future, too.”
