HYROX, the World Series of Fitness Racing, is one of the fastest-growing training concepts in the world. Through a combination of running and functional exercises including Ski Erg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls, participants are put through a supreme test of endurance. The concept sees thousands of contestants flock to both the regional and worldwide competitions each year.
As the only nationwide low-cost gym chain in the UK to offer HYROX training classes, this July, The Gym Group will be offering members the chance to experience the thrill of the ‘IRL’ event through a ‘HYROX half simulation’ challenge at participating gyms.
To take part in the challenge, members of HYROX-participating locations will be asked to contribute a donation of £10 per person to NHS Charities Together via JustGiving.

Martin Scholes, Head of Operations, The Gym Group: “We’re proud to once again be supporting our partner, NHS Charities Together, to help local communities to live happier, healthier lives through our ongoing fundraising efforts. This summer, we wanted to ramp up our community fundraising with a fun fitness challenge, and after witnessing the huge love and demand for HYROX training, it made perfect sense to create a HYROX-inspired event. We’re looking forward to seeing members across the country take on the challenge and help raise money for such an important cause.”
Louise McCathie, Director of Fundraising at NHS Charities Together:“We’re thrilled The Gym Group is offering this exciting challenge which will test their members’ fitness while supporting a fantastic cause. Our wonderful NHS turns 76 on 5 July. Being able to access free healthcare for over three-quarters of a century is worth celebrating! But we also know the NHS is under more pressure than ever. The support of The Gym Group staff and members makes a huge difference. Together, the programmes and extra support we fund across the UK can make sure all our incredible NHS staff are cared for and transform access to healthcare for everyone who needs it.”
