Severn Trent’s Big Boost for Brum connects unemployed with Birmingham’s top employers

The event provided the opportunity for anyone unemployed in the city to meet with some of the region's top employers, while also being able to speak to a number of training providers looking to help people get the skills they need to take the next steps for a successful career.
There was also the opportunity for attendees to have one-to-one sessions to help them improve their CVs, while sessions were also held on how to prepare for interviews and best practices for job applications using virtual reality headsets to get interview experience.

Hide AdEmployers and education providers such as Birmingham Employment and Skills Project and Coffey Group were in attendance and looking for new potential employees to join their ranks, another was the Department for Work and Pensions, speaking about the event they said:
“It was an extremely busy event, with so many people to talk to about their ambitions. There were so many who were interested in what we do, and we couldn’t leave our desk the whole time.
“We’d like to thank Severn Trent for the invitation and very much look forward to the next one to help as many people to find great work opportunities.”
Liz Heath, Societal Strategy Lead from Severn Trent, said: “The Big Boost for Brum is a fantastic opportunity for those looking for work to come and meet some of the region's top employers. The day was a huge success with around 400 people coming along, with a lot of those also visiting our learning centre to understand how they could better their chances of getting a job, through CV creation and interview best practices.

The Big Boost campaigns have been created by Severn Trent to boost employment in the regions the company serves, also taking place in Coventry and Derby. It forms part of a ten-year programme, set up in November 2022, to help 100,000 people in the region to reach their full career potential.
