Midlands Rail Hub, the region's flagship rail improvement scheme, will serve more than 50 stations, covering seven million people.
Work on the project is expected to run from 2025 to 2033, building two 'chords' as well as further engineering interventions throughout the Midlands, to make space for additional trains on the network every day.

Hide AdThe latest research carried out by Censuswide for Midlands Connect, demonstrates the appetite for the improvements.


A survey of 400 people found 96 per cent support the plans for Midlands Rail Hub, and 90 per cent see it as an example of 'breaking down barriers to opportunity' in the Midlands.
The consumer research also showed 36 per cent of those surveyed think the scheme would offer them greater access to jobs and, 32 per cent said they would expect it to bring more investment to the region.
The vast majority of consumers surveyed - 94 per cent - said it would make them more likely to take the train for leisure, and 93 per cent expect it would deliver economic benefits for Birmingham.

Hide AdThe delivery phase of Midlands Rail Hub is expected to create more than 12,750 jobs. The previous Government committed to ‘full’ delivery of the scheme, with an additional £123m allocated towards the project, to progress detailed engineering designs.

Hide AdMidlands Rail Hub will better connect Birmingham to Bristol, Cardiff, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Hereford, Malvern, Worcester, Tamworth, Burton and Nuneaton, with more frequent and reliable services.
