Morning people: Cheerful habits that irk night owls, study finds

One in three (35 percent) people from the Midlands describe themselves as a morning person, while 28 percent say they are a night owl and hit the snooze button an average of five times.
And no matter how we feel about the mornings, eight in ten (84 percent) think that breakfast is the most important meal of the day – with 62 percent agreeing that it is the perfect time to check in on family.

On 18th March at Liverpool Street, commuters will also be able to hop aboard the “Lizi’s at The Lizi Line Breakfast Bus”, a giant pedi-bus which consumers can ride to get an exercise hit on their way to work.
14 percent of night owls say they’re married to a morning lark, so it’s no surprise that over half (52 percent) admit they get annoyed by morning people. Just under half (45 percent) of people from the Midlands wish their partner was LESS cheerful before 9am, and women (68 percent) are more likely to get annoyed than men (52 percent).
It’s therefore unsurprising that our differing time preferences causes disputes, with four in ten (45 percent) admitting that they often have cross words - an average of six arguments a month.
The idea of hitting the gym before work (16 percent) only brings joy to the early risers among us, however over half (56 percent) of us wish we had more time to exercise before work.

However one thing Brits clearly do agree on is that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, no matter your mood in the mornings. Starting your day with a nutritious breakfast sets you up for success and we’re proud that Lizi’s has been dedicated to creating great tasting, healthy and nutritious granola for more than 20 years, whether you’re a morning person or not.
To help commuters see how good mornings can taste, and help get those night owls in the mood to seize the day, we’re popping up outside various Elizabeth Line stations from 18th - 27th March and giving out free samples. And for the 52% that wish they had time to exercise before work, have a pedal on our Lizi’s at The Lizi Line Breakfast Bus outside Liverpool Street on the 18th for some endorphin-releasing exercise while you hitch a ride to the office.
As a morning person myself, you’ll find me there helping to hand out samples, so come and grab yourself a bowl full of better!”
Cereal / granola (60 percent), toast (39 percent), porridge (32 percent), fruit (21 percent) and yoghurt (19 percent) are people from the Midlands’ go-to morning meals.
