Making a difference, one paw at a time: Platform volunteers support animal shelter
Cheltenham Animal Shelter recently received support through volunteering from a nearby housing association.
The Gloucestershire charity, which helps to rescue and re-home dogs, cats and other small animals across the county, welcomed two representatives from Platform Home Ownership, who spent a day helping with cleaning out drains, garden maintenance, and restoring its swimming pool.
The housing association, which has delivered a range of Shared Ownership homes at a high-quality development nearby, undertook the volunteering as part of its commitment to supporting the communities it provides homes for, with Hannah Harding and Sabina Cox taking part.
Cheltenham Animal Shelter helps to educate individuals and families about responsible pet ownership, and Platform encourages home seekers to understand owning a pet is not a barrier to purchasing their dream home through the housing association.

Erica Landon, Community Engagement Officer at Cheltenham Animal Shelter said: “It was wonderful to see Hannah and Sabina taking a real interest in the vital work we undertake at Cheltenham Animal Shelter, and they certainly weren’t afraid to get stuck in.
“Platform volunteers were very helpful, from cuddling with pets to digging out drains, their support was well-felt. It was wonderful to see the volunteers involved in what we do here.
“We’d like to thank Platform for supporting us and we hope to cross paths again in the near future.”
Hannah Harding, Sales Consultant, at Platform, said: “We’re passionate about extending our support for communities far beyond the construction of our affordable homes.

“Cheltenham Animal Shelter have such a great, positive impact in the community and we are delighted to be a part of their admirable work.”
