Local opticians celebrates colleague’s long service milestone
An opticians in Erdington is gearing up for its 30th birthday as the team celebrate their colleague who is following in his father’s footsteps.
Prav Sidhu, store manager at Specsavers on the High Street, joined the team in 2010 when he was 16 years old. As a teenager, he worked part-time alongside his father, Manjit Sidhu, who has run the store as a director for the past 30 years.
‘I was only four months old when my father opened Specsavers Erdington, so it’s hard to believe that we’re marking the store’s 30th birthday this year!’ Prav says. ‘Specsavers has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I’m really proud to be part of such an amazing team.’
After completing his degree and gaining experience in a different field, Prav returned to Specsavers Erdington full-time in December 2018, where he began managing the day to day operations as store manager. Now, he’s working towards his goal of becoming a store director, following in his father’s footsteps.
‘I’ve learnt so much since joining the team at Specsavers, and there have been lots of opportunities to develop and progress in my career along the way,’ Prav adds. ‘The team has been really supportive as I complete my qualification to become a store director, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.’
‘It seems like only yesterday that Prav was working the weekends here, so to be celebrating 30 years in the Erdington community feels amazing,’ comments Manjit. ‘From the very beginning, our team has aimed to provide the very best in eye and hear care, and I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved together.
‘We’re planning a birthday party to mark the milestone and thank our customers for their continued support over the last three decades, so keep an eye out for more information soon!’
