Fountains Care Home hosts Summer Fair in support of Age UK Solihull

Residents from Fountains Care Home in Shirley recently held a wonderful Summer Fair, bringing together residents, families, friends, and staff for a fun-filled afternoon while raising funds for a cause close to everyone’s hearts.
The idea for the event came directly from our residents during a meeting, where they expressed their wish to support Age UK Solihull. The Summer Fair provided the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Working closely with residents, Activities Coordinator Louise Crooks organised an afternoon packed with activities, stalls, and entertainment. The fair featured the home’s very own Fountains Tombola and raffles, alongside community stalls run by Age UK Solihull and St Patrick’s Church, Earlswood.
Everyone enjoyed a fabulous performance by local singer Jenny Andrews, whose lively set created the perfect atmosphere. Guests also indulged in a delicious spread of homemade treats, including fruit kebabs, macaroons, and a variety of pizzas from classic Margherita to hearty meat feasts.
Resident Doreen summed up the day perfectly, saying: “What a fantastic turn out, lovely to see everyone having so much fun.”
The fair was a true celebration of community spirit, with residents leading the way in making a difference while enjoying a memorable day together.
Rebecca, An Age UK representative came to Fountains to collect the £217 donations which had been raised on the day. The donation will go directly towards supporting the charity vital work with older people in the local community.
