Cockshut Hill School, part of the Summit Learning Trust, has marked Children’s Mental Health Week this week (3rd - 7th February.)

Organised by the children’s mental health charity Place2Be, the week aims to raise awareness about the importance of children and young people’s mental health. This year’s theme, Know Yourself, Grow Yourself, focused on equipping and empowering children and young people across the UK to embrace self-awareness and explore what it means to them.

Cockshut Hill has engaged learners and staff members with a variety of activities aimed at promoting mental health awareness and encouraging open conversations among each other. These included an assembly which asked learners to reflect on questions such as how well do we really know ourselves, what makes me nervous and what makes me relaxed?

Marc O’Malley, Acting Principal at Cockshut Hill Said:

“At Cockshut Hill we believe that mental health and wellbeing is just as important as academic achievement. Children’s Mental Health Week has been a brilliant opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges young people face, and to remind our school community of the range of support on offer to them. Our goal is to ensure that they have the support and resources they need to thrive both as scholars and well rounded individuals.”
