A naming ceremony at the Birmingham school brought together community members, students and literary enthusiasts, all eager to pay tribute to Zephaniah's contributions to poetry and social justice.
Amongst them was writer Muhammed Ahsan Al-Haadee, who gave a reading of his new book, The Eternity Train, and offered signed copies to students attending the event.

Hide AdMuhammed, a friend to Ninestiles, recently led a creative writing workshop for Year 10 learners, sharing tips of the trade and encouraging their burgeoning writing talent.

Alex Hughes, Principal, Ninestiles, an Academy, said: “We aim to inspire a love of literature in our learners and seek to expose them to a wide range of writing styles – including those which have their roots closer to home. Benjamin Zephaniah is a much loved local poet, musician and writer. The library, now bearing his name, stands as a beacon of creativity and learning, encouraging future generations to explore the power of words and the importance of their own voices. I would also like to thank Muhammed Ahsan Al-Haadee – himself a flourishing local author whose books I hope we can continue to enjoy for many years to come.”
