Stourbridge opticians opens new store
Specsavers, whose previous location on the High Street had been its home for 30 years, has moved into a much larger space in the Ryemarket Shopping Centre. The new store’s eight testing rooms, dedicated audiology department and specialist contact lens area were officially opened by Dame Mary Perkins, co-founder of Specsavers, who was joined by the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Dudley and local MP Cat Eccles.
Lots of hard work has gone on behind the scenes in the last few months to get the new store ready and a big thank you to all the team for making it possible,’ says Jason Bridgewater, store director at Specsavers Stourbridge. ‘The move allows us to provide a better customer experience, enhanced facilities and an improved working environment for the team too, so we’re really excited about our new chapter in the Ryemarket Shopping Centre.’

‘After all the planning, it was fantastic to be able to open our doors and welcome customers,’ continues Jason. ‘A big thank you to Dame Mary Perkins, the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Dudley and our local MP Cat Eccles for coming along to cut the ribbon and celebrate with us. The whole team is delighted to have a new home, and we’re looking forward to continuing to provide the very best eye and ear care services to the local community.’
State-of-the-art equipment has been installed throughout the new store, including an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine. This technology allows the optometrist to take a 3D image of the back of your eye to help spot serious eye conditions, including glaucoma, up to four years earlier.
The Deputy Mayor Cllr Peter Lee and Mayoress Mrs Gloria Lee were also keen to praise the new store. ‘As a customer I’m really excited to see the new store – it’s a fantastic setting in a great, accessible location. And as Deputy Mayor, I’m delighted that Stourbridge can benefit from this flourishing and important healthcare business in its new impressive location.’
The new store is open Monday – Saturday 8.30am - 5.30pm, and 10am – 4pm on Sundays. You can book an appointment by calling 01384 440464 or heading to www.specsavers.co.uk/stores/stourbridge.
