In a significant shake-up for TGI Fridays in the UK, has announced the closure of 35 of its restaurants as part of a ‘rescue deal’ aimed at saving the brand from financial collapse.

This move has resulted in the loss of over 1,000 jobs, marking a challenging period for the popular American-themed restaurant chain.

The rescue deal, orchestrated by Breal Capital and Calveton UK, involves the acquisition of 51 TGI Fridays restaurants. This comes after the group’s previous operator fell into administration, leaving the future of the chain in jeopardy.

The deal has successfully saved nearly 2,400 jobs across the UK, providing a lifeline to many employees and ensuring the continuation of the brand in several locations.

However, as part of the ‘rescue deal’, the closure of 35 restaurants has led to 1,012 redundancies.

Breal and Calveton is said to have ‘a wealth of experience in the sector’ including D&D London, Byron Burgers and Vinoteca.
