Birmingham’s influence on television and film culture has grown significantly over the years.
From detective and crime dramas to comedy to non-fiction shows - there’s been some iconic TV shows that have been created in our city.
From BBC’s Pebble Mill to ATV’s Midlands studios - some incredible gems have been made over the years. The influence of Peaky Blinders and its writer Steven Knight cannot be understated, and with the new Peaky movie set to start shooting in Birmingham this September, we’ve decided to have a look at some of the very best films and television shows that were filmed in the city.

13. Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part
Some scenes from the latest Mission Impossible were shot in Birmingham at New Street station in August 2021. The film’s lead Tom Cruise stayed at the Grand Hotel during his time in the city and ate at Asha’s in the city centre. | Birmingham World

14. Man Like Mobeen
Show creator Guz Khan presents a comedic take on real life in inner-city Birmingham. Khan stars in the lead role with Duaa Karim, Tez Ilyas and Tolu Ogunmefun as part of ensemble cast. The BBC series was filmed near Small Heath | BBC Three

15. Crossroads
