Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, and could even make a move for the forward in January.

According to reporter Simon Phillips, who was was discussing Chelsea’s transfer targets on his podcasr Si Phillips Talks Chelsea (via Football 365), he revealed Chelsea are looking at the Villa and England striker.

Discussing Chelsea’s January targets, Phillips said: “Dusan Vlahovic was obviously looked at in the summer. He’s still there. Jonathan David from Lille. And the last one is Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.”

Watkins has been linked with a move to a number of clubs, including Chelsea, in the past, but the 27-year-old is a big part of Unai Emery’s plans going forward.

Villa ‘agree deal’ for teenage star

Elsewhere, Aston Villa have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Port Vale’s teenage star Freddie Lawrie.

According to Football Insider, Lawrie is set to become the club record sale for a schoolboy player when he joins Villa.

The U15s player has been tracked by a number of Premier League clubs due some brilliant performances as a youngster, with Villa set to win the race to sign the central midfielder.
