Southampton confirmed two days ago that all of their 2,009-seat allocation had been purchased, bringing a close to their final sale phase. West Brom’s success in selling the remaining 24,679 means the total attendance should reach the maximum of 26,688 for this weekend’s 2.15pm kick-off.

It’s bound to be an absolute cracker as Albion will carry the home advantage at the Shrine but Southampton hold the better Championship tally for 2023/24. Carlos Corberan’s team finished fifth with a points total of 75, a dozen behind Russell Martin’s Saints in fourth.

Albion lost both meetings during the regular season - 2-1 away at St Mary’s Stadium on November 11 and 2-0 at The Hawthorns on February 16 - but the play-offs are a completely different kettle of fish. Absolutely anything could happen.

For those unable to clinch a ticket for the match, it will be shown live on Sky Sports Football, with the build-up starting around an hour before proceedings get underway. There will also be coverage here, at Birmingham World, including the match report, player ratings and post-match press conference quotes.
