Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City are in similar shape ahead of Wednesday's Sky Bet Championship clash at Ewood Park, with both sides missing up to five players through injury.
The hosts have the slight upper hand in the sense one of theirs is merely a doubt rather than ruled out, but the cruciality of their missing men perhaps outweighs that of Birmingham's.
Blues recorded their first win under Wayne Rooney on the weekend as they came from behind to beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at St Andrew's. Blackburn, meanwhile, won 3-0 at Stoke City.
Here's the latest team news ahead of what should be a tight encounter under the lights in Lancashire.
1. Scott Wharton (Blackburn) - doubt
Clashed heads during the 3-0 win over Stoke City at the weekend. Jon Dahl Tomasson said a full diagnosis was needed but hoped Wharton would be fine to be back soon, stating he’s “a tough cookie”.
2. Ryan Hedges (Blackburn) - out
Rovers’ longest absentee with a hamstring tear, Hedges is still recovering after surgery and won’t be available for this one.
3. Joe Rankin-Costelllo (Blackburn) - out
In a similar position to Hedges but didn’t need surgery to correct his tear.
4. Aynsley Pears (Blackburn) - out
Yet to make a return to the matchday squad after injuring his ankle at the start of October. The goalkeeper is expected back shortly but this one comes too soon.
