Steven Gerrard provided a team news update ahead of Leicester City on Friday morning.

Aston Villa will be without four first team players ahead of Saturday’s trip to Leicester City, Steven Gerrard has confirmed.

Kortney Hause, Morgan Sanson, Bertrand Traore and Lucas Digne will all miss out with Gerrard adding that a number of youngsters will have a chance to impress in their absence.

Speaking ahead of the game, the manager said:

“Kortney Hause is not available, Morgan Sanson is not available and Bertrand Traore came out of training yesterday with a groin complaint so those three are not available.”

“There will be a couple of youngsters in and around the squad tomorrow - a good opportunity for them and some valuable experience.”

Digne is the man everybody knew would be unavailable following surgery to his collarbone but the manager did provide a positive update on the Frenchman’s condition.

“We’ve obviously spoke about Lucas,” Gerrard added.

“He’s actually out doing a lot of work, he’s kicking balls and doing a lot of one one work but he’s obviously had surgery on the collarbone and he can’t be around contact for quite some time.

“There’s a small outside chance that he might make the last couple of games of the season but it’s too early to put a date or a game on that but I’m hoping, knowing Lucas, he will want to make himself available for the last few games of the season which would be a nice boost for us because he’s so important to how we play.”
