Former Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah is eyeing a return to the Midlands after he was released by QPR.

His contract with QPR ends this summer and both the player and club have opted to go their separate ways. The 36-year-old is moving on from the Hoops after four seasons with them.

He is hoping to play for at least one more year to match the age of his shirt number, as he turns 37 in December. Adomah resides in the Midlands and has hinted that is his next destination.

He said to QPR’s official club website: “I’m 36 now and my target has always been to play to at least the age of my shirt number - 37.

“Hopefully I can have another season or two playing closer to my home now, which is in the Midlands.

"To any team watching from the region, Uncs is available!

"In all seriousness, though, I believe I still have lots to offer with all my experience. I just want to carry on playing football."

During his time in West London, he appeared 129 times for them, scoring six goals. His appearance against Leeds United last week saw him make his 525th appearance in the Championship which is a record.

The 19-time Ghana international was at Aston Villa from 2016 to 2019 after joining from Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee. He made 125 appearances for Villa, getting 22 goals and 21 assists, helping them win promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. Nottingham Forest signed him after he wasn't kept on following Villa's promotion, and he made 27 appearances for them, joining Cardiff City on loan in his one and only season at the City Ground.
