Birmingham schools using Russian-linked gas to heat classrooms
At a full council meeting at Birmingham City Council earlier this week it was revealed that five schools are using gas from a Russian energy company. While the local authority claims to have no direct contracts, the gas sourced from Gazprom this financial year had a total value of £51,000.

Three cars and a coach were involved in a serious crash in Birmingham City Centre on Wednesday evening. A 19 year old man driving one of the cars suffered life threatening injuries, but is now in a stable condition in hospital. West Midlands Police are investigating.
Birmingham 2022 Festival launches with ‘Wondrous Stories’
Thursday evening saw the launch of the Birmingham 2022 Festival with the opening show Wondrous Stories. The hour-long experience saw a range of visual displays, dancing and acrobatics to welcome the start of a year of exhibitions across the West Midlands. There are more free performances in Centenary Square until Sunday.
