Saltley: man arrested on suspicion of murder after fatal shooting

Police investigating the fatal shooting of Muhammed Sohail in Saltley have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.
Officers detained a 35-year-old man last night (28 February) in the Chelmsley Wood area.

Hide AdA 34-year-old woman was also arrested in Sheldon on suspicion of assisting an offender and they both remain in custody for questioning.
Mr Sohail was found in a car in Wright Road, Saltley, with a fatal gunshot wound at around 12.45am on Saturday, 19 February.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services the 25-year-old was tragically confirmed dead at the scene.
What have police said about the arrests?
Detective Inspector Adam Jobson, from our homicide team, said: “These arrests are a significant development in our investigation into Mr Sohail’s killing.

Hide Ad“He was a young man who should have had his life ahead of him, and we remain determined to get answers for his family.
“We’ve carried out extensive enquiries but we remain keen to hear from anyone with information who can assist us in getting justice for Mr Sohail.”
