Birmingham’s hospitality scene is everchanging and new spots regularly throw open their doors. We’ve had a close look at 11 new places to eat and drink which have opened recently or are coming soon.
And, the new openings are not limited to Birmingham city centre - there is so much going on beyond the heart of the city. Different neighbourhoods have are proving quite an attraction and everyone celebrates when the latest and popular restaurants pop up in their backyards.
From pizzas to pints - these openings will offer great variety and Brummies are going to be spoilt for choice. Visting all of these venues would certainly be a challenge and would likely take customers days but they are worth checking out.
Some are new concepts while others are tried and tested but have moved to a different location. So, if you are looking forward to an exciting summer - you can begin by pencilling these 11 new food and drinks outlets in your calendar.
Here are the 11 new bars, pubs and restaurants that have opened or are opening soon in Birmingham:
1. Bar + Block steakhouse in Exchange Square
The Bar + Block steakhouse is renowned for hand-cut steaks, prepared on site by expert chefs. From rump to ribeye, fillet to sirloin, all steaks are sourced from British and Irish Angus breeds, known for their taste, tenderness and unique marbling, with a monthly Butcher’s Block special showcasing different cuts and flavours. It opened in March.
2. O’Neill’s, Harborne
O’Neill’s opened in Harborne on May 28 replacing The Vine. A refreshed bar, an enhanced sports viewing, a stage for live entertainment and new spacious booths have given the pub a new lease of life. It provides guests with the perfect spot to get together with friends to unwind over good food and a wide selection of drinks in a welcoming atmosphere. (Photo - O’Neill’s)
3. Raja Monkey, Harborne
After the success of Raja Monkey in Hall Green - it will be opening its doors in Harborne replacing Estado Da India. The Indian food restaurant is replacing the Luso-Indian restaurant, also by the Lasan group. They opened their doors for dress rehearsals from June 1.
4. Somewhere in Brum, Jewellery Quarter
Somewhere in Brum is a new cafe & bar in St Paul’s square. The recently opened venue replaced Anderson’s. From the team behind Notty Bites and the Queen’s Arms - this is a great new place for coffee, working, and more. It is currently open in the day and evenings with more coming soon.
